This was posted on the Inner Confidence Forums by a workshop graduate. I posted it here because I found it very interesting and a great sign of progress.
Okay this was pretty interesting... every morning on my way to work I practice a mix of the "being in our body" grounding work we learned, eye contact, and smiling. Its been working well I think, I have gotten a lot of warm smiles in return but I need to take it up a notch and go say hi after that now.
So I was walking to work the other day but this time I was day dreaming. My body was on autopilot doing its own thing like dodging crazy cab drivers but my attention was totally focused inward in whatever little fantasy thing I was playing out that moment. It really felt like I was looking inward on my own imagination, I dont know I never actually had to explain this before.
So I am walking and super cute girl is walking my way from the other direction, I kind of snapped out of my little fantasy zone and made eye contact with her a few steps away -- I could really feel the intensity of it. She actually turned her body towards me, walked two steps and stuttered out a a meek little "hi" before... I don't know what, I was so shocked by the unexpectedness of it that it took me a few moments to let it all sink in. I turned around and by then she was gone but I ran after her trying to catch up with her anyway.
So here's my question... I did something really really right and I want to be able to do it again. I think the trick of it was focusing inward and letting that build up first before making eye contact.?
Thanks guys and happy thanksgiving to everyone.
